Carris (buses and trams)

Carris staff struck for 24 hours on 12 June, the night of the Santo António festivities, after a week of two-hour stoppages at the start and end of each shift from 2 to 6 June. Their main demand was a 35-hour working week. Minimum services kept 12 bus routes at half their usual service. Carris said about 15% of staff had joined the strike by 10:00 and that 38% of its service did not run. A Metro staff meeting that evening added to the disruption.

What to do

On big festival nights such as Santo António, plan how you will get home before you go out, because a strike makes the last buses and trams even busier.
