Privacy Policy

Last updated: 20 September 2026. This policy explains what information Newsroost ("we") collects when you use our website and our iOS and Android apps, and how it is used.

The short version

We do not ask you to create an account, we do not sell personal information, and we do not build a profile of what you read. The only identifiers we handle are the ones advertising and push notifications technically require.

Information we collect on the website

No account required. You can read headlines, watch live TV and listen to radio without signing in. Accounts exist only for our own editorial staff.
Usage and device data. Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) kept for security and reliability.
Preferences. Settings such as dark mode and your chosen state are stored locally in your browser, not on our servers.
Reports. If you report a broken stream, we store the report and any optional note you enter.
Advertising. We may show ads served by Google AdSense, which may use cookies or similar identifiers to serve and measure ads. We record anonymous ad impressions and clicks for our own sponsored content.

Information we collect in the mobile apps

Advertising identifiers. The apps show ads through the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob), which may also serve demand from Meta Audience Network through AdMob mediation. These SDKs may access a device advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, Advertising ID on Android) to serve and measure ads.
App Tracking Transparency (iOS). On iOS we ask for your permission before the ad SDK starts. If you decline, we request non-personalised ads only and no tracking identifier is used for personalisation. The news content is identical either way.
Push notifications. If you turn on notifications we store a push token for your device, together with the US state you selected and the topics you subscribed to, so we can send relevant breaking-news alerts. The token is not linked to your name, email or any account. Turning notifications off in the app or your device settings stops this.
On-device storage. Your settings, saved stories and a cached advertising configuration are stored on your device only. They are not uploaded to us, and removing the app deletes them.
Reports. As on the website, a broken-stream report and its optional note are stored so we can fix or remove the stream.

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, precise GPS location or health data. Choosing a state for local news is a manual selection, not a location lookup.

Third-party content and services

Headlines link out to the publisher's own website, which opens in your device's in-app browser and is governed by that publisher's privacy policy. Videos play through the official YouTube embedded player and are subject to the Google Privacy Policy and the YouTube Terms of Service. Radio and TV streams are delivered directly by the broadcaster, which will see your IP address as any listener's player would. Our backend is hosted on Supabase in the United States.

Your choices

iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, to change the tracking permission at any time.
Android: Settings → Google → Ads, to reset or delete your advertising ID.
Either platform: turn notifications off in the app's Settings screen or in your device settings.
Web: control cookies in your browser and opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings.

Residents of certain US states (for example California) have additional rights to access, delete or opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise a right, contact us at the address below.

Data retention

Stream reports and anonymous ad-event counts are kept while they are useful for fixing streams and measuring fill rates. Push tokens are kept until the device unsubscribes or the token stops being valid. Server logs are kept for a short period for security and reliability.

Children

The service is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
