- Menzies ground handling (Portuguese airports)
The second four-day strike by ground-handling staff at Menzies (formerly Groundforce), with the same demands as in July: no base pay below the national minimum wage, better pay and payment for night hours. ANA, the airport operator, counted five cancelled flights at Lisbon by 19:00 on 11 August; the union said that number did not show the real impact and that delays were significant. On 13 August the union called off the three remaining summer strikes, planned between 15 August and 1 September, after talks at the Labour Ministry; Menzies said it had made no agreement or concession.
What to do
In a ground-handling strike, flights can be delayed or cancelled, and some leave without checked bags. Check your flight in the airline's app before you leave for the airport, and pack essentials in your hand luggage.
