The whole Metro de Lisboa network was closed on Wednesday 14 October by a 24-hour strike of supervisors in the Metro's operations department, called by six unions including the Fectrans federation. They said the company had not kept the 13 April agreement that called off the previous strike, pointing to staff shortages and long overtime in the central control room. The company called the strike disproportionate, saying the issues concern about 100 of its 1,600 workers. No minimum services were set for trains, and Lusa reported that morning that the stations were closed; the same unions have called partial strikes for 28 and 30 October.
What to do
When the Metro is closed, Carris buses and trams and CP trains still run but are much busier, so allow extra time. The airport is on the Metro's red line, so on a Metro strike day plan another way there.
