Metro de Lisboa

Metro staff held two morning strikes, on Tuesday 9 and Thursday 11 September, over the meal allowance, holiday and Christmas pay, and the maximum working week. Train operations staff stopped from 05:00 to 10:00 and there were no minimum services, so the Metro did not open at the usual 06:30. On 9 September it was running normally on all lines by 10:40. Staff decided to go ahead with both strikes after rejecting the company's offer at a meeting on the Monday night.

What to do

When a Metro strike stops the morning service, buses and trams fill up fast. If you have an early flight or train, leave earlier and plan a route that does not need the Metro.
