CP rail workers' strike, 7–14 May 2025

A week of strikes at CP over pay and a promised restructuring of pay scales. Fourteen rail unions struck on 7 and 8 May, train drivers kept striking until 14 May, and ticket inspectors added early-morning strikes from 11 to 14 May. The arbitration tribunal set no minimum services, except 25% for the ticket inspectors. CP said 632 of 1,071 trains did not run up to 19:00 on 12 May, most of them Lisbon suburban trains, and 76 of 111 Lisbon suburban trains were cancelled before 08:00 on 13 May. In July an appeal court ruled that 25% minimum services should have applied to the whole strike.

What to do

During a long CP strike, check CP's service updates each evening, because the number of trains running can change from day to day. Metro, Carris buses and the river ferries are not part of a CP strike.
