At Lisbon Airport

The airport operator, ANA, runs a locker system on the departures floor, just outside Terminal 1. It is before security, so you can use it without a boarding pass, and it is open 24 hours a day with phone support around the clock. There are 234 lockers in five sizes:

  • S: 36 × 48 × 88 cm
  • M: 36 × 65 × 88 cm
  • L: 36 × 99 × 88 cm
  • XL: 72 × 99 × 88 cm
  • "Surf": 36 × 200 × 88 cm, for long items such as surfboards

You pay for at least three hours when you lock up, and anything longer when you collect. ANA's prices at the time of writing (9 October 2026), including VAT:

  • first three hours: €3.60 (S), €6.00 (M), €9.60 (L), €14.40 (XL or Surf);
  • up to 24 hours: €8.40 (S), €10.80 (M), €16.80 (L), €24.00 (XL or Surf).

Before you leave your bags, know the rules:

  • 72 hours at most. Beyond that, ANA treats it as abusive storage: you pay an extra daily charge (€25.20 at the time of writing), and ANA can open the locker with the police present. A bag not claimed within 90 days is treated as abandoned.
  • Opening the locker ends the booking. Taking something out and closing it again means paying again, even within the time you paid for.
  • Payment is by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, or through an app reached by a QR code on the locker. Keep your access code: the receipt can be emailed to you from the payment terminal.
  • No food or other perishables, and no valuables. ANA states that storing a bag in a locker is not a deposit contract, so it is not liable for theft or for damage caused by others.

ANA lists these lockers at Terminal 1 only, so if you fly from Terminal 2, store your bags at Terminal 1 first.

At the train stations

CP, Portugal's train operator, has automatic lockers at these Lisbon-area stations:

  • Cais do Sodré, for the trains to Cascais and the ferries;
  • Lisboa Oriente, for long-distance trains, the Metro and the bus station;
  • Rossio, in the centre, for the trains to Sintra;
  • Sete Rios, next to the long-distance bus station;
  • Cascais.

You can leave bags for up to 24 hours, and only while the station is open, so you cannot collect them in the middle of the night. CP does not list lockers at Santa Apolónia, and its pages do not give the locker prices.

At the cruise terminal

The Lisbon Cruise Terminal, near Santa Apolónia, says it has lockers, which you book through the storage app it names on its FAQ page. If you are boarding a ship, you may not need them: on embarkation days the terminal usually accepts checked bags for your ship from 9:00, as long as each bag carries your ship's luggage label.

In shops and hotels, through an app

Several luggage-storage networks, among them Bounce, Stasher, Radical Storage and LuggageHero, sign up shops, cafés and hotels across Lisbon to keep bags in a back room. They work in the same way:

  1. you book a location and a day in the app or on the website, and pay per bag, per day;
  2. you hand the bags over at the counter and show your booking;
  3. you collect them during that location's opening hours.

Before you rely on one, check three things:

  • The opening hours of that exact location. A shop that closes at 19:00 is no use for a late flight.
  • What the cover really is. Bounce and Stasher both include protection against loss, theft and damage up to a stated limit. Bounce's terms say its protection is not insurance, the limit is per booking rather than per bag, and it pays the value of the item after wear and tear, not the cost of a new one. Bounce also asks to be told within 24 hours of the end of the storage period.
  • What you may not leave. Cash, jewellery, immigration documents and dangerous goods are banned or excluded from cover, and electronics and travel documents are stored at your own risk.

Prices and cover vary by network and change often, so compare them in the app on the day you book.

Practical tips

  • A late flight after check-out: ask your hotel first. Many hotels and guesthouses keep bags at reception for the day after you check out.
  • Photograph each bag when you hand it over, and keep the booking, the receipt and the access code until you have your bags back.
  • Keep passports, medicines, chargers and anything valuable with you. None of the options above will fully repay their loss.
  • Leave time to collect. Allow for queues at the airport lockers and for station or shop closing times, especially on a strike day, when the Metro and trains may not run: check our strike list.
